About Us: Equipped and developed to offer specialist teaching and learning for primary-age students with autism, JFK North Woolwich offers a provision that develops core skills underpinning successful early school experiences with a focus on communication and independence. Classrooms are large and adaptable to ensure the learning environments are suitable for a range of learning activities and students' needs and are also low-arousal environments. There is an outdoor play area that has a variety of play equipment to support the students' sensory and regulation needs. Within this space, the equipment includes: two sunken trampolines, two large swing areas and a variety of spinning play equipment supportive of children's sensory needs and profiles.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN TA to join our team in North Woolwich. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children with special educational needs and committed to making a positive impact in their lives. This SEN TA role demands patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to student care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons and activities as an SEN TA.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN in North Woolwich.
  • Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support students with their personal care needs, including toileting and feeding.
  • Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing atmosphere for all students in North Woolwich.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as an SEN TA or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • A patient, compassionate, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of students.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN or childcare are advantageous.
