Summary

We're looking for a Service Assistant to join the team at Hardwick Hall.

Salary: £11.50 per hour

Contract duration: Fixed term contract until 01-Sep-2025

Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

The Hardwick Estate is nestled within a rural location and includes historic parkland, mill and Hall, all of which are reachable via car. Public transport links to Hardwick are extremely limited. As a member of the Visitor Experience team, you will have the opportunity to explore various areas of the property, engage with multiple departments and undergo training opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.

Alongside our standard operation, Hardwick holds guided walks, arts and crafts workshops and large-scale family programming throughout the year with key moments in the Summer and Winter. Additionally, Hardwick hosts external events including outdoor cinema and theatre.  This role requires regular weekend working.

Reporting to the Visitor Experience Officer, you'll support experiences through standards and presentation, as well as through event set-up. Working alongside a large team of staff and volunteers, you'll work both independently as well as with colleagues to deliver exceptional service.

  What you'll be doing

As a Service Assistant, you'll be responsible for providing our visitors with an exceptional welcome and introduction at various points across the property. Spending time at Visitor Reception as well as outdoors at the historic Gatehouse, you'll have the opportunity to engage people with varying interests, directing them to multiple aspects of the property. Utilising digital equipment including tills and membership scanners, you will provide ticketing information, process payments and donations, as well as admission to events. Supporting the Visitor Experience Officer, you'll also be responsible for presentation and standards, ensuring that Hardwick is visitor ready and that events and programming opportunities are of the highest quality.
