Large Housing Association requires a Service Charge Officer specialising in Projects to focus on a large scheme.

Responsibilities:

Role will be specifically focus on service charge projects.

Working with stakeholders across the business including the dedicated Estate Operations Manager to review historic service charge accounts.

You will lead on the projects & be accountable for working through a defined number of service charge accounts that have been issued a Section 20b and seeing them through to audit and delivery within the 6-month period.

You will also review any complaints and queries from residents to service charge accounts that have already been served.

You will support the Estate Operations Manager with engaging with residents and responding to any queries, documenting any decisions and lessons learnt.

Experience and skills

SVC or SVC complex accounting.

Minimum 3 days in the office per week, MONDAYS ARE MANDATORY. You will also need to visit sites.

The main part of the role will be delivering a backlog of service charge accounts, which have been held up due to issues/errors in them - to resolve the issues they might need to visit the site to get a better understanding of the physical structure and components (although not in every case).

Experience of working compliantly with varying service charge regimes (variable), on large mixed tenure schemes.

Experience of analysing and working through complex service charge accounts with ability to reconcile.

Problem-solving skills, able to work with stakeholders to get to a decision or outcome.

Significant experience of analysing complex data and ability to present analysis to stakeholders to make business decisions.

Experience of reading and understanding tenancy agreements & leases.

Track record in delivering projects and meeting outcomes within set deadlines.

Interpersonal skills and ability to explain service charge information in plain English to residents.

IT skills, including advanced Excel.

Knowledgeable on the RICS service charge residential code and ICAEW tech 03/11

and how to apply them.

Grasp of the Landlord and Tenant Act (1985), particularly around reasonableness (section 19) of costs.

Ideally AIRPM / TPI Leasehold management
