Reed Engineering are currently representing one of the leading fabrication companies based in Essex who are looking to expand their team of sheet metal fabricators.

Main Duties and Tasks

Getting Information

• Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

• Determine project requirements, including scope, materials, assembly sequences and required methods according to technical drawings.

General Duties

  • Mark dimensions measured in millimetres and reference lines on material according to drawings using squares and tape measures.
  • Use machines to cut, drill, fold or punch holes in varying thicknesses of sheet metal.
  • Use hand or power tools to trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams and joints.
  • Use belt sander to smooth or linish and re-grain products.
  • Analysing information and evaluating results to solve problems and to identify the best solutions.
  • Making independent judgment in assembly procedures.
  • Determining project methods and procedures.
  • Handling and moving products and materials as required
  • Setting up and operating equipment and machinery to fabricate sheet metal parts and other components.
  • Using precision measuring tools or equipment.
  • Operating TIG, MAG and Spot welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
  • Operating MMA welding equipment (for site working only).
  • Examining products or components to verity their conformance to specifications.
  • Investigating errors to identify causes of the non-conformance by inspecting equipment, materials and components.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Must have as a minimum NVQ Level 3 Welding & Fabrication or equivalent fabrication experience.

• Understanding of different types of metal material used in fabrication.
