Site Supervisor

Salary - £38,773 - £45,615 per annum (plus benefits)

Hours - 42.5 hours per week, between 6.00am and 5.00pm

Location- DA13 9PA

As a Site Supervisor at FCC Environment, you will support the manager in the day-to-day delivery of the Pepperhill HWRC and Transfer Station Contract, its development and the site staff working on the contract, all in accordance with good practice and FCC procedures. You will also support the site manager in ensuring the Transfer Station & HWRC are being operated and maintained in a safe and professional manner, as well as in accordance with the Waste Management Licence, Planning Permission and contractual requirements between the Group and the client Authority, along with any schemes or initiatives brought in by the Group and the Client Authority.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week. However, we will consider requests for job shares to suit your lifestyle (working full days).

What will you be doing?

- Monitoring and reporting on the standards of service delivered at the sites in accordance with contractual requirements through the introduction of formal monitoring and reporting.

- Taking prompt action to rectify any shortcomings in service delivery.

- Setting appropriate targets that deliver continuous improvement in service standards, in particular for recycling achievement and customer satisfaction.

- Implementing a maintenance schedule for the facilities and associated infrastructure to ensure that the sites are well presented to the public and meet the contract standards.

- Working with site staff and customers to gather and implement suggestions, where appropriate, for further improvements to the service.

- Assisting the Contract and Transport Manager to ensure that the infrastructure and new site developments are managed and delivered in accordance with the SDP.

- To be conversant with the Waste Management License, Working Plan, Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Emergency Procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents, and to perform all reviews of processes/risk assessments/SWPs and update as required.

- Ensuring that plant/HGV’s maintenance is carried out as directed by the Site Manager and correctly recorded. Any plant or site equipment defects must be reported to the Site Manager and for HGVs a defect identification number obtained.

- Providing adequate cover for the weighbridge if required.

- Providing cover for any absences of the site manager.

- To be conversant with the Waste Management License, Working Plan, Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, Emergency Procedures and other relevant health, safety & environmental documents, and to perform all reviews of processes/risk assessments/SWPs and update as required.

Recycling

- Maximising recycling rates at the HWRC and transfer station by working with site staff.

- Identifying opportunities to expand the range of materials recycled.

- Promoting the recycling facilities available at the sites.

- Publicising the recycling rates achieved at the sites.

Systems, Data and Reporting

- Co-ordinating the collection and recording of data to ensure that:

- Appropriate reports are produced.

- Reports are delivered in a timely manner.

- Data required to support payment is accurately recorded and reconciled.

- Working with other staff members to ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrated Quality Management System and site filing system (ISO 9001, 14001, 18001, 50001) and supporting continuous improvement in service delivery, including resolution of complaints relating to the services delivered under the Contract.

People

- Assisting the Contract and Transport manager with recruitment, managing and developing site staff (Recycling Team Leaders, Operatives and relief/temporary staff), ensuring that they are appropriately trained and motivated. Be responsible for the Health and Safety of direct reports and others working on the contract and public using the site. Manage staff fully in accordance with FCC staff handbook and HR policy.

- Ensuring all staff are competent to do the job and are trained in accordance with FCC H&S requirements and procedures and implement a formal induction, probation and review process.

- Building relationships with the client and other contract partners through the careful management of expectations and the interests of all parties.

- Overseeing recruitment, employment, management and training of all employees on the contract.

- Developing contingency arrangements to support permanent staffing arrangements.

P&L responsibility

- Responsibility to operate within cost budget and make efficiency savings wherever possible.

- Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Company from time to time.

What are we looking for?

You will be able to demonstrate a good basic understanding of Windows Explorer and the Office 365 package, with the aptitude to develop these skills further.
