Social Worker - Court Team - Powys - Hybrid Working - £38-£42 per hour

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a passion for safeguarding children and supporting families through legal proceedings? We are seeking a Court Team Social Worker to join Powys County Council, ensuring the best outcomes for children involved in care proceedings. This role offers a hybrid working model, allowing a balance of remote work and essential in-person court attendances and visits.

Role Overview:

As a Court Team Social Worker, you will be responsible for managing cases that require legal intervention, preparing court reports, and representing the local authority in proceedings. You will work closely with children, families, and legal professionals to ensure that the needs and welfare of children remain at the heart of all decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of public and private law cases, ensuring children’s safety and well-being.
  • Prepare comprehensive assessments, reports, and care plans for court proceedings.
  • Represent the local authority in court hearings, case conferences, and legal meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with legal professionals, guardians, and partner agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Act 1989, Public Law Outline (PLO), and other relevant legislation.
  • Provide expert recommendations that support the best interests of children in care.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree/Diploma in Social Work).
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience in court work, child protection, or care proceedings.
  • Strong knowledge of family law, safeguarding, and court procedures.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred).
