Operations Specialist - Hybrid Role in London

A global commodity company is seeking an Operations Assistant to join their Trade team, handling physical shipments to customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to support the trading team with logistics.
  • Coordinate with overseas operations, suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and warehouse partners.
  • Monitor shipments, agreements, and related documentation.
  • Verify and process invoices for payment, working closely with the Accounts team.
  • Accurately and promptly enter data into the in-house system.
  • Manage stock, including reconciling stock confirmations from providers with the in-house system.
  • Serve as the primary contact for insurance claims, submitting monthly insurance declarations and reports.
  • Maintain position keeping.
  • Oversee stock and deliveries to the terminal market (ICE).

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in shipping/logistics within a similar environment.
  • Preferably experienced in commodities.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage various shipments during busy periods.
  • Familiar with warehousing and freight.
  • Knowledgeable about demurrage and detention claims.
  • Prior experience in insurance.
  • Proficient in Excel and other systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
