Advantech (Gaming Solutions) is a highly successful division of the $2bn+ turnover IPC manufacturer Advantech Corporation. Specialising in custom industrial computer hardware and software products tailored for the casino/gaming/lottery industry, we are currently looking to expand our UK design team with the permanent appointment of an Embedded Software Engineer.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person with a genuine interest to develop a career in the embedded computer industry with the drive and commitment to contribute to the future growth of our business.

The successful candidate will be joining a multidisciplined team and have the chance to work on new product developments built around C/C++ code in firmware, embedded Windows and Linux environments. You will be joining a stable and well-funded organisation with over 20 years' experience in this industry, where new developments and product innovation is at the centre of the business. You can expect to work closely with technical enthusiasts in a challenging and varied role, with the chance to contribute across the full design life cycle on next generation products, whilst supporting existing product lines.

Job Functions:

  • C/C++ programming
  • Embedded software and firmware design
  • Working with various embedded communication protocols
  • Multi-disciplined team collaborative design

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Willing to travel nationally and internationally on an occasional 'as needed’ basis

Qualifications & Key Skills:

Essential :

  • Degree qualification in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Creative development mindset

Desirable :

  • 2 years+ of demonstrable experience in embedded software and/or firmware development
  • ST Micro (STM8/STM32), ARM or Atmel microcontroller development experience
  • Windows/Linux Kernel or Device driver development
