Overview

Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance, and as a minimum be living in the UK for 5 years.

Working: The role is office/hybrid based with occasional travel to other company sites in the UK. Office site presence, anticipated 2/3 days onsite, depending on project needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for successfully delivering engineering activities to time, cost and quality across all engineering aspects of the sonobuoys portfolio.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that solutions meet requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Support new product development, in -service support and products that are already in production.
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet operational needs.

Experience needed:

  • Ideally qualified to degree-level or equivalent experience in a Physics or Engineering based subject, such as; Electronics, Hardware, Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering etc.
  • Experience of managing teams of teams
  • Experience of engineering estimation, with the ability to review, challenge and defend estimates
  • Created Work Breakdown Structures and defined delivery strategies
  • Experience of producing engineering plans with dependencies, assumptions, risk and opportunities identified, communicated and managed
  • An understanding of the different design gates a project goes through, from bid to full scale production readiness review
  • A background in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with an understanding of software and systems engineering
  • Coaching and/or mentoring experience

Experience in the following would be desirable:

  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
  • Experience in the Naval / Maritime domain would be advantageous.
