About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Barnsley. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering tailored educational programs to students with special needs
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning atmosphere
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with a range of needs, including Autism, Dyslexia, and Speech and Language Difficulties
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote effective learning
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure cohesive support for students
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to relevant staff and parents

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting children
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education or support (desirable but not essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
