Special needs Teaching Assistant

  • Full-Time 8:30am-4:00pm

Empowering Learning is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to support a SEND School in Bolton, Bromley Cross. The role would be working as a Learning Support Assistant supporting pupils with complex and/or medical difficulties including Autism ASD, Dyslexia, Aspergers Syndrome, Hearing or Visual Impairment and comfortable with personal care. Experience in supporting pupils with SEND needs is desirable but not essential. You will be working on a full-time basis on-site with children and young people in a therapeutic and nurturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Comfortable supporting pupils with Anxiety, complex and/or medical difficulties including Autism ASD, Dyslexia, Aspergers Syndrome, Hearing or Visual Impairment and comfortable with personal care.
  • Ability to engage and support pupils' learning
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with pupils
  • To understand therapy goals and aims
  • To promote and support the inclusion of all pupils in learning activities and maximise their achievement

Job Requirements

  • Experience in supporting children or young adults with SEND needs is desirable but is not essential
  • Able to de-escalate and support emotional regulation
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Available 5 days a week and able to commit to at least 12-39 weeks
