We are seeking a passionate and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join the team within a secondary SEMH school based in Guildford. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating students with speech, language, and communication needs. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized therapy plans that enhance our students' communication skills and overall academic performance.

The position is to start ASAP, on a temp to perm contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' speech, language, and communication abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and group therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' communication development.
  • Monitor and document students' progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.
  • Provide training and support to school staff on communication strategies and interventions.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech and language therapy.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a related field.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Dedication to continuous professional development and learning.
