Primary Objectives
  • To provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy provision within our educational establishment for students with Visual Impairment & additional special educational, health and care needs.
  • To be a source of clinical expertise and advice on Speech and Language Therapy and work collaboratively with therapists and other colleagues, students, their families, carers and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective interventions & outcomes.
  • Working at all times to Health Professionals Council guidelines and The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists standards.

Education and Professional Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Membership of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Registration with Health Professions Council.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience of students with complex special needs.
  • Experience of working independently.
  • Knowledge of varying disabilities.
  • Awareness of current legislation particularly relating to students in education.
  • Highly specialist assessment and treatment skills.
