Job Advert: Sports Teaching Assistant
Location: South west London,
School: Mainstream Secondary School
Contract: Full time, long term (September 2024 - ongoing in first instance)
Pay: £85 - £95 per day dependent on expereince
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to join our team at a reputable Secondary School in the Harrow, North West London. As a Sports Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students within the sports faculty and assisting in various other areas as required. This is a term-time only position, and the working hours are 36 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher, both within the assigned sports faculty and in other faculties as per the cover rota.
- Liaise with staff to understand and effectively communicate the requirements of the assigned work.
- Provide clear instructions and support to students, motivating and encouraging them as necessary to enhance their learning experience.
- Implement the school's Behaviour Policy and keep accurate attendance records.
- Assist the Curriculum Leader with administrative/technical tasks as directed.
- Deliver small group tuition following appropriate training.
- Assist with first aid in emergencies
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Interest in working with young people and belief in their potential for success
- Degree in Sports or Physical Education
- Robust and caring disposition with patience and empathy
- Ability to explain concepts clearly
- Natural motivator with clear boundaries and a firm but fair approach
- Confidence in dealing with young people aged 11-18 years
- Well-organised and practical
- Positive and caring attitude
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to working in a co-educational, multicultural comprehensive school
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility in approach
- Excellent attendance and punctuality record
