SQL Developer/DBA

Venn Group is currently working with an NHS London Trust who are recruiting for a SQL Developer/DBA who is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of the databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies, and providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities.
Location: London
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: 3 months initially
Rate: £35.89 umbrella per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the performance, integrity and security of the databases - include planning, development and troubleshooting
- Ensuring information requirements across the trust are met including providing, as required Business Information, Management Information and reporting solutions
- Ensuring the data warehouse is fit for purpose and can be integrated into other trust systems and processes such as Qulkview and PLICs
- Establishing the needs of users and monitoring user access and security
- Monitoring performance and managing parameters to provide fast query responses to front-end users
- Mapping out the conceptual design for a planned database in outline
- Considering both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
- Refining the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model
- Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements
- Installing and testing new versions of the DBMS
- Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
- Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a wide range of database technologies such as SQL, MySQL and Oracle
- NHS/Healthcare experience
