Project Tekla Draughtsman

Steel Build is a leading firm in the architectural and structural steelwork industry, specialising in the design and fabrication of balconies, balustrades, stairs and structural steel. We are committed to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions to our clients and are seeking a talented and driven Project Draughtsman/woman to join our team.

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Project Draughtsman with expertise in Tekla to create Models, GAs and manufacturing drawings for a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of steel detailing and fabrication processes, as well as excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients and our production, install teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creation of detailed drawings and models: Use Tekla to produce accurate, practical and comprehensive drawings and 3D models for metalwork projects including metal stairs, balconies and balustrades.
  • Collaborate with design and production team: Work closely with our engineers and production teams to produce practical, clear work packages.
  • Engage with external stakeholders: Work with clients, their engineers and architects to develop designs and resolve challenges.
  • Adhere to industry standards and regulations: You must have a good understanding of UK construction regulations such as Part K, Part M etc.
  • Project coordination: Coordinate with project managers and clients to meet project deadlines.
  • Project variations: To inform project managers when clients make changes to projects which cause additional cost variations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Tekla Structures with 2 years’ experience.
  • Proficient in the design of architectural metalwork - Balconies, balustrades, stairs etc.
  • Experience as a steel detailer / draughtsman with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong knowledge of steel design principles, fabrication and construction in the architectural metalwork industry.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate and high-quality drawings.
  • Effective written and verbale communication skills and ability to collaborate as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Live within commutable distance of our office in Biggleswade or plan to re-locate before starting work.
