With projects exceeding £100m and a strong pipeline of exciting, technically challenging work, we’re now hiring Steel Fixers for an ongoing project near Shurton, Bridgwater.
Steel Fixer – The Role:
As a Steel Fixer, you’ll play a key role in strengthening concrete structures by installing and tying steel bars and mesh. You'll work from engineering drawings to ensure the correct size, shape, and position of reinforcements across the site. Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with steel erectors, engineering designers, and other construction teams to support successful project delivery.
Steel Fixer – Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings to accurately position and secure steel reinforcement for concrete structures
- Cut, bend, and shape steel bars or mesh using hand tools and power tools to meet project specifications
- Fit and install supports, such as spacers and chairs, to maintain correct positioning of steel reinforcements
- Secure steel reinforcements into concrete bases using anchoring techniques to enhance structural strength
- Install precast concrete slabs and steel beams safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with steel erectors, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure seamless project delivery
- Carry out maintenance and repair work on existing steel frameworks and infrastructure as required
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to promote a safe, compliant, and hazard free working environment
Steel Fixer – About You:
As a Steel Fixer, you’ll have:
- A valid Blue CSCS card (NVQ Level 2 in Steel Fixing)
- A DBS check dated within the last 6 months (can be arranged if needed)
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings and construction plans
- Experience using construction tools and machinery to cut and bend steel
- A solid understanding of construction environments and industry standards
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK
