A Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator / Material Handler is required for a steel processing company based in the Dudley area of the West Midlands. The company is performing really well and it is an exciting time to join a growing business within the industry.

This position is working on a temp to perm basis - with a permanent contract awarded after a probationary period.

Duties include:

  • Banding, packing and palletising stock
  • Operating an overhead crane to handle steel
  • Driving a counterbalance FLT
  • Assisting with loading / offloading steel on machine lines

This position is working mornings and afternoons rotating;

6am - 2pm Mon-Fri / 2pm - 12am Mon-Thur

Paying £11.67 per hour.

When work levels pick up, they may eventually move onto a longer days / nights shift pattern, as below;

6:00am - 5:00pm (6:00am - 2:00pm Friday) days - 52 hours per week
6:00pm - 6:00am (Monday to Thursday) nights - 48 hours per week

The rate of pay is £11.67 on days (first 40 hours) and £14.00 on nights (and anything over 40 hours on days).
