Working Pattern: 36 hours per week/39 weeks per year, Monday to Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Welfare Manager - Attendance & Medical, to join the team at Thomas Knyvett College on a part-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be hardworking and committed; able to deal with confidential material with the sensitivity required; qualified to and capable of administering first aid; able to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Key duties include but are not restricted to:

  • To safeguard all students and follow all safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Ongoing monitoring of attendance for students in Years 7 to 11. Identify students who require support with their attendance and those that have significantly improved for commendation
  • Liaise with key members of staff both within the school and outside agencies regarding students of concern, referring as necessary
  • Raise attendance issues with parents, meeting both students and their parents in order to support them to improve attendance
  • As lead for the school, attend and hold meetings with the Inclusion Welfare Officer and other relevant agencies who are able to support students in improving attendance to school and to lessons. Liaising with members of school staff both prior and on all outcomes
  • Oversee stocks of medicines for students and individual medical plans, keep accurate records of medicines
  • Record, monitor and administer to the medical needs of students (and staff on occasion), liaising with parents and appropriate agencies
  • Carry out stock control on medical resources, medications, first aid equipment, health and welfare resources
  • Produce reports, summaries and all related documentation with regards to attendance/medical as and when required
  • To maintain a flexible working approach within the Pastoral and Admin Teams, working cohesively together to provide an outstanding reception service for both visitors and students alike
  • To deal with all student enquiries and concerns taking the appropriate action where necessary. Relaying messages to teaching staff and parents and following up when required
  • Ensure all parents, visitors and contractors to the school are cascaded, in line with the school safeguarding policy
  • In the event of absence, covering colleagues work as appropriate
  • Perform other reasonable duties in line with the school’s job requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality in and outside of the workplace
  • Be pro-active in matters relating to fulfilling welfare, safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures as well as reporting/recording accidents as required
