Supply Chain Co-ordinator – Portland

Key Responsibilities -

  • To organise the movement of all Airfreight, Sea Freight, Road and Courier shipments in support of current and future Projects.
  • In coordination with the Warehouse Coordinator, ensure Goods Receiving, Defect handling, Picking & Packing, Dispatch and Hazardous packaging are carried out.
  • Carry out analysis and summary of Supplier performance data in line with established metric requirements for the Supply Chain function.
  • Ensuring all appropriate packing lists, shipping invoices and other export documentation are correctly raised as required.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders to obtain quotations for packing and transport activities (Worldwide) by air/sea/road and to progress shipments and documentation required.
  • Required to liaise and negotiate with new & existing freight forwarders to obtain best quality and value for money.
  • Maintain direct liaison with project managers to ensure all shipping and transport activities in support of project specific contracts and programmes are fully met.
  • Raise requisitions and Purchase Orders for Logistical requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate Stock Inventory on Costpoint.
  • To maintain records and to lead on the procedure to regain Known Consignor status.
  • To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department to ensure that materials arrive at their required location in good condition at the right time and presented in the right way.
  • To ensure good, safe working practices.

Qualifications Required -

  • Computer literate
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • GCSE in Maths and English
  • UK Level 2 Certificate in Logistics and Transport (preferable)
  • FLT license
  • Willingness to take on responsibility for First Aid and/or Fire Warden Duties (training will be offered for these elements)

Skills / Experience Required -

  • Experience and knowledge in export procedures.
  • Proven working experience in logistics – Minimum of 3 years logistics experience
  • Must have good time management.
  • Can solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions.
  • Have commercial awareness.

  • Be flexible and can manage change.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team, as well as manage people.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Maintain metrics and analyse data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements
  • High level of accuracy.

  • A logical and systematic approach to work
