1st Swim School is a swim school established in both St Wilfrid’s Primary School and Hurst College. At 1st, we run classes for a wide range of swimmers starting from the absolute beginners (3 years onwards) to the more advanced swimmers getting ready to move into club swimming. We pride ourselves in offering a consistently high standard of teaching which values technically accurate and enthusiastic teaching through the means of fun!

At St Wilfrid’s, we offer lessons up to stage 5. Sessions are on offer Monday through Friday after school but also on Saturday and Sunday morning. On top of this, we also offer lessons to local primary schools for curriculum swimming. All of the lessons run at St Wilfrid’s will be run in tandem with another teacher meaning that you could lead or take an assisting role however this would be expected to switch over continuously. At Hurst, we only provide lessons for higher level swimmers as we offer them a 25m pool to refine their skills and develop the trickiest parts of their strokes.

Who are we looking for?
  • Level 2 Swim England or STA Qualified Teacher
  • STA Insurance (held with an activeSTA membership)
  • NRASTC or equivalent live saving qualification
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Safeguarding Qualification
  • Photographic ID (either a driving license or passport)
