About You

Location

You will need to live locally to Abingdon, initially being office-based but with the opportunity to spend time working from home as the role progresses.

The Role

Your primary role as Systems Administrator will be to provide internal help desk support to130+ staff, extending to supporting and maintaining our internal systems, which are mostly cloud-hosted, but we also operate a minimal local infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining our local network, including firewall, VPN, Wi-Fi and Active Directory services
  • Administering our Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Managing end-user devices and endpoint security
  • Onboarding new starters
  • Helping to keep our Information Security Management System records and procedures up to date

As the role evolves, there will also be additional project work that requires research, planning and implementation as we evolve the future direction of our internal systems. We are also keen to automate any processes that will increase efficiency in the future.

Essential Skills

Knowledge & Experience:

We do not require you to have experience in all the areas listed below, but you should have strong working knowledge and experience in some and be keen to learn in others.

  • Previous experience of working as part of an IT helpdesk, supporting users and managing Windows 10 /11 and Mac devices
  • Maintaining Microsoft 365 environment including Azure Entra, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams
  • Managing end-user devices with MDM platforms such as Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Management
  • Day-to-day administration of internal infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPN and endpoint security
Desirable Skills
  • Process automation with scripting using languages like PowerShell and Power Automate
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and certifications such as BSI 27001 and Cyber Essentials
  • Experience in managing, investigating and resolving vulnerabilities
