Are you passionate about supporting students with English as an Additional Language (EAL)? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant to join our team in Newcastle. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of secondary school students by helping them overcome language barriers and achieve academic success.
The Role
As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students who are learning English as an additional language. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students in developing their English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Assisting teachers in creating and delivering tailored lesson plans that cater to the needs of EAL students.
- Working one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce learning and boost confidence.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity.
- Helping to develop resources and materials to support EAL learners.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for education and helping students succeed.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience working with EAL students or a background in linguistics, TESOL, or a related field.
- Patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff members.
- Relevant qualifications or training in EAL support is preferred but not essential.
