Role Responsibilities
  • Managing a portfolio of VAT clients, ensuring deadlines are met, work is completed within budget, and final reviews are efficient
  • Providing high-level VAT advisory services, covering a wide range of complex issues and sectors, with a strong focus on property and NFP clients
  • Reviewing VAT returns and assumptions prepared by compliance specialists before submission to HMRC
  • Handling HMRC interactions, including VAT inspections, disputes, and penalty considerations
  • Advising on international VAT matters, particularly where businesses operate in multiple jurisdictions
  • Reviewing contracts to ensure correct VAT treatment and drafting VAT-related clauses
  • Leading VAT health checks, assurance reviews, and audits to identify risks and opportunities for clients
  • Working closely with internal teams and managing internal referrals, ensuring seamless client service
  • Providing VAT training and technical updates, both internally and externally

Candidate Requirements
  • CTA, ACA, ACCA, or ATT qualified with strong VAT advisory experience
  • Broad VAT technical knowledge across multiple sectors, with a particular focus on NFP and property
  • Experience in handling HMRC interactions, from registrations to complex disputes
  • Strong ability to translate complex VAT legislation into clear, practical advice for clients
  • Commercial mindset with business development skills and experience in winning new work
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Confident in managing internal stakeholders and collaborating across different departments
