We are working with a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) secondary school committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for our students. They focus on helping each child reach their full potential through tailored education plans, innovative teaching methods, and a compassionate approach.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher to join the dynamic team and support the new Year 7 students. Due to the nature of the schools needs, the year 7's will be mostly learning at a year 5/6 level, and therefore this would also be suitable for an experienced primary teacher looking for a newexciting opportunity!

Role and Responsibilities:

You will play a crucial role in shaping the educational experiences and outcomes of our Year 7 students. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and Delivering Lessons: Create and deliver engaging and accessible lessons that cater to the individual needs of students working at a primary level.
  • Individualized Learning Plans: Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address the unique learning, social, and emotional needs of each student.
  • Behavioral Support: Employ strategies and interventions to manage challenging behaviors, promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including SENCOs, teaching assistants, and external agencies, to support the holistic development of each student.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of best practices in SEMH education and contribute to the school community.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working with children who have SEMH needs.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills, the ability to differentiate instruction effectively, and a compassionate and patient approach to teaching.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the primary curriculum and the ability to adapt it to meet the needs of Year 7 students.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
