Prospero Teaching are working closely with an SEND school in Macclesfield.

The school are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistant to work in their Autism base.

The SEND School are a good rated provision which caters for pupils (aged 11-16) with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The school also caters for pupils with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and specific conditions including autism spectrum condition. All pupils have an EHC plan. In order to cater to the needs of the range of pupils the school has developed a range of different provisions.

The vacancies are in the following areas:

Autism base - The discrete Autism provision is a consistent environment for students with a diagnosis of autism and associated complex needs. The curriculum echoes that of the main school and students enjoy all subjects and have full access to all the school's facilities. The main focus in the Autism Base is to develop social interaction, self and sensory regulation and communication skills.

The Role will consist of:

  • Providing tailored support and working 121
  • Experience of working with students with high need
  • Creating a safe environment that allows students have fun, learn and succeed
  • Academic support- ICT pathways

The Ideal candidate:

  • Experience of supporting pupils with complex behaviours voluntary or paid basis OR/ experience of supporting those with complex behaviour needs in a school or care setting
  • Driven, energetic and keen to pursue a career in education and complex needs

Position Details:

  • LOCATION - Macclesfield
  • POSITION - SEN TA
  • CONTRACT TYPE - Temporary ongoing
  • HOURS - Full time Monday - Friday 8.30am -4pm
  • START DATE - ASAP

- Team Teach training would be highly desirable for this role

- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide two professional references
