We a recruiting Teaching Assistants for a dedicated educational institution catering to pupils with moderate learning difficulties. The majority of students have additional needs, including autism, speech, language, and communication difficulties, as well as some behavioural challenges. The school provide a supportive and inclusive environment where every child is given the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join the team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the teaching staff to support students aged 5 to 18 years old in small classes. Your role will involve providing individualised assistance to students with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they receive the attention and support they require to succeed academically and socially.

Specific Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with moderate learning difficulties, autism, speech, language, and communication difficulties, and behavioural issues.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students' emotional and educational development.
  • Understanding of and commitment to promoting inclusive education practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and support staff.

Qualifications or Certificates:

  • Minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs or relevant areas would be advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably within a special educational needs setting.
  • Experience implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience using assistive technology and resources to support students' learning.

Brief Overview of the Role:

  • Support teaching staff in delivering tailored education plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assist students with classroom activities, providing one-to-one support and guidance as required.
  • Support students with personal care and social interaction, fostering independence and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to assess students' progress and adapt interventions accordingly.
