SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Salary: £90+ day rate 
  • Location: Sherwood Hill, London
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Working Hours: 08:30 16:00

We are seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our inclusive and supportive team at a special school catering to pupils with Severe/Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with complex needs. Our school is committed to providing exceptional opportunities for our pupils to excel both in and beyond the school environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work effectively as part of the school team, collaborating with students, parents, carers, staff, and external agencies.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, understanding and empathising with their needs.
  • Provide individual attention and support to students, assisting with learning tasks as needed.
  • Assist with the physical support of learners, including those who use wheelchairs or special seating systems, following appropriate manual handling training.
  • Promote independence and self-care among learners, supporting with personal care tasks respectfully and with dignity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Ability to communicate and work supportively within a team.
  • Empathy and the ability to establish positive relationships with students with special educational needs.
  • Willingness to support learners with physical and personal care needs.
  • Experience in a classroom environment, particularly with special educational needs, is desirable but not essential.
  • A respectful and ambitious attitude towards the potential of our pupils.
