Our client is a PE-backed, UK-headquartered, fast-growth, global, precision pressing and stamping engineering and distributing company. As part of the Group, their Nitra (SK) based site is seeking a new Technical Manager to further expand and develop this existing organisation alongside their sister companies.

The primary function of the Technical Manager is to provide technical leadership and guidance to the Nitra operation. Managing and leading a team to ensure the business is compliant to technical standards whilst pursuing and implementing new innovative technical solutions into the business.

Key Relationships:

-    Working directly for the General Manager based in Nitra and in close collaboration with Group Technical Director based in the UK

-    Partnered closely with all management within the business including Quality, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure customer product technical specifications are correctly interpreted and achieved within the business.

-    Close relationship with Group Directors to ensure the site has the technical capability and capacity to deliver current and future customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

-    Lead and manage the following elements of technical responsibility:

o    Process/production engineering.

o    Tool design and procurement

o    Toolroom Manager

o    New Product Introduction (NPI) project management

o    Site/facilities engineering

o    Medical product/project management

-    Lead and own full technical feasibility for new enquiries, including but limited to:-

o    Metallurgy and material selection

o    Tool design and development

o    Product packaging specifications 

o    Manufacturing capability and process control 

o    Assembly, test and packaging solution(s)

o    Measurement technique and equipment

-    Identify and implement cost effective technical improvements and efficiency through innovation.

-    Provide, share (and train where applicable) technical expertise, knowledge and advice in solving technical challenges.

-    Approval of the concept of the design of tools and equipment.

-    Ownership of product development from contract award into production.

-    Engage with and support Purchasing and Sales department as required on technical related matters.

-    Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) activity and aim to improve the design of remedial measures using statistical methods.

-    Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks of new technology introductions

-    Provide input to (and support) Group Technical Director for the annual Engineering budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements. 

-    Develop and maintain client network and relationships with senior level customer counterparts.

-    Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements.

Experience/Qualifications Required:

-    10+ Years proven work experience in Engineering and Technology with proven evidence of success

-    Sound knowledge of Engineering and Quality principles (budgeting, strategic planning, regulatory adherence, industry quality compliance)

-    Expertise in high volume machined/pressed components industry

-    Demonstrated understanding and experience of HSE, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes

-    CAD / design related tools

-    Degree/higher qualification in Engineering or Manufacturing Systems
