Technical Report Writer - Engineering or Software R&D - Home Based

Our client is a rapidly growing advisory business with offices across the UK. As a specialist Tax Credits advisory consultancy, they guide companies that invest in innovation while prioritizing client experience.

The organization's main focus is to offer comprehensive consultancy services for businesses looking to make claims against government incentives, particularly the HMRC Research and Development Tax Credit Incentive. The technical function is crucial to the business, with experienced individuals having professional backgrounds in key sectors such as mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and software engineering.

Key responsibilities include:

• Meeting directly with clients to gain a detailed understanding of qualifying R&D projects and to provide consultation on qualification criteria
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
• Updating and maintaining the project management software platform
• Writing detailed technical reports for submission to HMRC
• Assisting Senior Management in gathering all relevant information to support claims
• Liaising with HMRC for claim updates and progression
• Staying up to date with the latest HMRC guidelines and legislation

Candidate attributes and experience required:

• Demonstrable understanding of mechanical engineering or software and its application and integration in R&D
• Comfort with collaborating with a broad team, including internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in articulating complex ideas and projects for non-technical individuals
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Previous experience as an R&D Technical Writer supporting R&D SME/RDEC claims - preferred
• Proficient and demonstrable technical writing experience
• Excellent research and analysis skills
• Previous career background in a technical industry
• Educated to degree level

• Base salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience) and location
