Finning UK is continuing to develop the strongest talent in the marketplace, and with our Apprentice scheme going from success to success, we are now looking to appoint a Service Technical Trainer to deliver apprenticeship training. The successful candidate will lead the engineering apprentices through their programmes and prepare them for their end point assessment tests. Ensuring apprentice needs are met to ensure an outstanding experience for the Apprentices, and to ensure that all of their individual learning needs are at the heart of the programme. Ensuring alignment to the overall apprenticeship strategic plan in alignment with the Apprenticeship Quality Manager.

The successful applicant will support the delivery of the training calendar for technical training within Finning by working with Service Technical Training Manager (STTM) and identified SMEs across the team. You will work closely in conjunction with all Training Team Members and support the STTM in the production of the Technical Training curriculum from apprentices to fully qualified engineers within Finning UK&I.

You will plan courses in line with Cat’s Technician Career Development Programme (TCDP) integrated with NPI and technical training requirements. Develop and deliver training programmes for apprentices and engineers, ensuring training is delivered to meet the current service specification and adopts a safety and customer service culture. Work closely with co-ordinators to schedule courses and maximise attendance.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

  • Delivering training for apprentices in engineering roles to complete their apprenticeships within Finning UK & Ireland.

  • Working in conjunction with training providers as necessary to offer an outstanding service.

  • Offering necessary advice and guidance to ensure apprentices complete their apprenticeship considering their individual needs.

  • Assessing apprentices work, offering motivational feedback that stretches and challenges them to achieve the highest results.

  • Working closely with the apprenticeship quality manager and team to deliver an outstanding apprenticeship programme.

  • Utilising blended learning techniques to maximise training opportunities for Finning employees.

  • Ensuring that individual records are updated on apprentices and produce data as and when required for governance of the programme.

  • Ensuring that training is delivered to meet the current service specification and adopts a safe, inclusive and customer service culture.

  • Working with the team to produce annual training plans for the apprentices that support the business strategy, apprenticeship programme and promote the individual needs and learning of apprentices.

  • Working with the apprenticeship and recruitment team to recruit new apprentices into the business promoting diversity and inclusion. 

  • Working as an ambassador of the programme to encourage new talent into the apprenticeship programme.

  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of apprenticeship training, giving feedback to apprentices in review meetings and collecting feedback from own training delivery. 

  • Keeping all training relevant and current in line with Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) requirements. Ensuring Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is brought to life in the curriculum.

  • Attend meetings to standardise the curriculum delivery and share best practice.

This role carries significant safeguarding responsibilities. As outlined in the job description, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing safeguarding practices, identifying and reporting any safeguarding concerns, and ensuring the well-being of apprentices during training sessions.
