My client are looking for a Technician (Purchasing & Plant) to provide supply chain management and a compliant procurement service for Highways Delivery. The successful candidate will manage the hiring, leasing, or purchasing of plant and/or materials required for the delivery of revenue and capital programmes of highway works, as well as manage the stock, distribution, and maintenance service history of owned plant items.
Day to Day of the role:- Carry out all purchasing for Highways Delivery ensuring compliance with procurement rules and regulations.
- Maintain auditable reports of purchasing activities and process procurement opportunities via electronic portals.
- Assist with contract & supplier management and provide support to operational teams by processing requisitions for goods and services.
- Arrange plant and material deliveries and/or collections and liaise with internal stores operations.
- Act as the first point of contact for client and operational teams to access services offered by the Procurement team.
- Advise on the availability of resources and assist with the monitoring and analysis of supplier performance.
- Prepare, collate, and present information and reports for Senior Management and other stakeholders.
- GCSE Grades A-C or equivalent in English and Maths.
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant business area OR BTEC ONC or Diploma in a technical or administrative field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in highway maintenance, construction industry, and/or a purchasing environment.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Software suite and financial systems like Oracle.
- Strong problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of EU Procurement rules and Public Contract Regulations 2015.
- Familiarity with materials and plant used in highways construction and maintenance services.
