We have an exciting opportunity for a Test Equipment Mechanical Design Team Lead to join our highly skilled team and play a vital role in the development of defence technology.
 

Job Title: Test Equipment Mechanical Design Team Lead

Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience 

Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Typically for this role you will work 1 day per week on-site.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Working in collaboration with our wider Test Equipment Group, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our established mechanical and cables team that design mechanical fixtures, jigs, electronic enclosures and cable harness solutions.  

You will mentor your team on process, best practice and encourage innovation and collaboration.

On a day to day basis you will be resource managing the workload, collaborating with project managers, reviewing your team's designs, attending peer and design reviews ensuring design for manufacture and design for test is considered and all requirements internal and external are adhered to.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Some experience leading teams is desirable.
  • Significant experience leading mechanical design packages.
  • Proven experience managing resources to ensure delivery on time.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Relevant 3D CAD/CAE (ProEngineer / CREO / Windchill) experience. (Other CAD Packages such as Solidworks / Solidedge will be considered).
  • Significant experience of the product life cycle (Development through to Manufacture).
  • Some experience in cable design is desirable
