Location: Bilston

Position: Tool and Works Engineer

Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (1-hour lunch break)

Role Overview:

Murray Myers are seeking a highly hands-on, mechanically minded Tool and Works Engineer to join one of our top clients in the bilston area. In this role, you will be solely responsible for the repair and maintenance of our equipment and machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain all tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Minimize factory downtime by organizing plant maintenance and promptly attending to breakdowns.
  • Arrange maintenance for laboratory and office equipment with quick attention to breakdowns.
  • Order replacement parts as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks regularly.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance activities.
  • Outsource work when repairs cannot be completed in-house.
  • Report equipment issues and faults to relevant departments for parts and processing.
  • Manage machinery start-up/shutdown procedures and ensure premises security.
  • Install and commission new equipment as required.
  • Conduct frequent quality checks on equipment.
  • Respond to equipment faults, diagnose breakdowns, and arrange specialist procurement of necessary components.
  • Address emergencies, unplanned issues, and repairs promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize your workload.
  • Maintain records of preventive and emergency maintenance conducted.
  • Perform minor repairs to building fittings and structures.
  • Ensure plant and equipment are maintained in a safe condition in accordance with current legislation.
  • Review company equipment continuously and advise the Managing Director on potential improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Liaise with other staff and management to maintain effective company-wide communications and achieve high efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience maintaining/repairing special purpose machinery as an electrically based maintenance engineer.
  • Preferably 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and engineering.
  • Understanding of a range of engineering functions and procedures.
  • Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to take initiative when required.
  • Excellent diagnostic and critical thinking skills.
  • Confidence to respond positively under pressure.
  • First Aid experience is advantageous.
