Job Overview:

Due to our continued global growth, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trade Compliance Coordinator. This role is crucial in supporting Key Account Trade Compliance Functions with KPI and product reporting, ensuring smooth movement of items across borders and compliance with local and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with line reports and operators to ensure smooth movement of items across borders.
  • Determine correct tariff classifications for all supported brands within the Key Account function, especially for items moving from the EU.
  • Issue country-specific guidance (for the UK) on additional import requirements for stock products, predominantly from the EU.
  • Maintain close liaison with line reporting and provide support to the Head of Function.
  • Provide support on internal projects requiring input, involvement, or expertise from Trade Compliance.
  • Audit and monitor entries to ensure compliance with local import and export legislation and support brand KPI audit requirements.
  • Ensure all operational activities are completed and followed up correctly in accordance with SOPs and organisational policy.
  • Facilitate imports and exports of non-stock goods, completing and supplying documents and declarations.
  • Liaise with HMRC and assist with maintenance on customs procedures.
  • Maintain the CITES portal, uploading import and re-export CITES certificates.
  • Implement and improve client workflow efficiencies in conjunction with the line manager.
  • Report any new sales leads to the line manager for distribution to the sales team.
  • Create and maintain written procedures.
  • Ensure all reports and KPIs are generated by given deadlines and handed to the line manager for submission to each area of Key Accounts.
  • Complete ad-hoc and spot checks on entries and submit reports to the line manager and Head of Department weekly.

Skills, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Experience within customs/trade compliance in a large business or brokerage firm with an in-depth understanding of UK and EU Customs regulations.
  • Proficient understanding of international trade, import duties, commodity codes, incoterms, preference, and valuation.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written) with expert communication skills across all levels.
  • Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Demonstrate initiative and drive to meet deadlines while working in a busy environment.
