Description of the Business Line or Department

The bond syndicate team acts as an intermediary between issuer clients and investor clients. The role of syndicate is to advise on pricing, to define an execution strategy, to distribute bond issuance through the fixed income salesforce and, occasionally, to manage the unsold portion of a deal. Most of the deals brought to the market by syndicate are done on a best effort basis (sized and priced to demand).

Summary of the key purposes of the role

• Assist the credit bond syndicate team in providing highest quality advice to their internal and external issuer clients

• Production of analytics and statistics

• Basic support in transaction execution and help with certain internal documentation

Summary of responsibilities

• Accurately update team databases where relevant

• Assist with basic new issue pricing exercises under supervision of a senior person

• Assist in roadshow organisation and feedback gathering through discussion with salesforce

• Analysing investor books and ensuring online systems are accurate

• Support with book-building process

• Assist in miscellaneous administrative tasks that are required (data gathering for management presentations, sales credit allocation, etc)

Profile required

Competencies

• The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in a Finance / Mathematics-related discipline

• Good basic Bond Mathematics skills essential

• Some work experience in a similar field is advantageous

• Excellent Excel and MS Office skills essential

• Excellent level of written and spoken English essential

• Good analytical skills

• Good communication skills

• Flexibility/adaptability

• Ability to work under pressure

• Ability to work under own initiative

• Good teamwork skills
