Overview

Gallagher Bassett is expanding its team and is currently seeking Trainee Travel Claims Handlers to join us at our Ipswich office.

As a Trainee Claims Handler, you will receive comprehensive training that covers all aspects of the job, including insurance fundamentals and the handling of Travel Insurance Claims. In this role, you can expect to handle a wide range of claims, including lost luggage, flight cancellations due to adverse weather, and medical bills incurred while traveling. The training provided will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in your new role and a career within Insurance.

We are specifically looking for individuals who are brilliant communicators, possess strong computer skills, and can demonstrate empathy towards customers navigating potentially stressful situations.

**Entry level position**

No previous experience required as full training provided, and we offer an excellent progression programme as well as qualification support.


How you'll make an impact

Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting in the processing and handling of travel insurance claims, including reviewing documentation, assessing coverage, and determining claim validity (whether the claim will be paid or not).
  • Communicating with customers, either via phone or email, to gather necessary information, provide updates on claim status, and address any concerns or questions
  • Collaborating with other team members, such as claims adjusters and supervisors, to ensure efficient and accurate claim processing
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all claims and related activities

About You

Qualifiations: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail to accurately review and assess claim documentation
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills to evaluate claim validity and coverage
  • Empathy and the ability to remain calm and composed when dealing with customers in potentially stressful situations
  • Strong customer service skills to provide a positive experience for customers throughout the claims process
  • Computer literate
  • GCSEs, or equivalent including English and Maths
