Hours: Rotating Weekly Shifts - Sunday to Thursday 14:00 – 22:00 one week, Monday to Friday 06:00 – 14:00 one week and Monday to Friday 14:00 – 22:00 one week
Salary: £26,468.00, plus 22 days rising holiday, pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, wellbeing support, and flexible benefits scheme

As Transport Clerk you’ll contribute to the smooth and efficient operational activities within the Traffic Office in order to meet and exceed customer expectations.

As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:
  • Carry out and direct daily traffic office functions in line with company policies and procedures and best practice 
  • Provide and maintain professional, efficient and effective clerical support for the traffic office / traffic team as required
  • Facilitate effective communication between yourself, your peers and the Management Team
  • Monitor, maintain and comply with Health, Safety and Environmental standards minimising the risk to all colleagues
  • Ensure full compliance to Warehouse and Transport Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) safe systems of work, all Company and statutory regulation regarding the operator’s licence, tachograph analysis and driver’s hours
  • Work in collaboration with other Unipart sites to maximise efficiencies and best practice
  • Ensure customer requirements are always fulfilled to the highest possible standards including internal customers
  • Ensure work equipment is in good working order and report any defects as per local procedure
  • Responsibility to challenge and ascertain reasons for presence of unauthorised persons on site where appropriate
  • Promote and behave in a way consistent with the Organisation’s Vision and Values
  • Develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others
  • Support people’s equality, diversity and rights
  • Build and demonstrate an in-depth operational awareness of all areas of the business, working closely with the Transport Supervisor sharing thoughts and ideas to move the department forward
  • Ensure all information contained on the system is always accurate 
  • Contribute to achievement budgeted targets, always striving to exceed the targets and KPI’s
  • Complete driver communication in allocation of activity and debrief on return
  • Complete all daily reports by the end of each shift

About You

  • Proactive with an ability to work under pressure and to react and respond to change
  • Resilient and able to thrive in a demanding and fast changing environment
  • Proven track record of working within a transport operation, including a good geographical knowledge of the United Kingdom – desirable
  • Customer orientated with supply chain experience an advantage
  • Good Knowledge of Transport Legal responsibilities
  • PC literate
