Job Title: Tutor

Pay Rate: £26.62 per hour

Location: Marston Green, Birmingham

Smart Education is currently recruiting for a Tutor to work in Marston Green, Birmingham from September 2024 with a Primary aged pupil with a diagnosis of ASD, who acesses school of a morning, and requires tuition of an afternoon.

Brief Overview of the role

You are required to provide personalised academic support and guidance to students in the comfort of their own home. Tailoring lessons to suit individual learning styles and needs, you will offer one-on-one sessions in various subjects. You will need to foster a supportive and conducive learning environment, with the aim to boost the student's confidence, improve their understanding of the subject matter, and enhance their overall academic performance. By offering flexible scheduling and personalised attention, as a tutor you serve as a valuable resource for students seeking to excel academically.

Person Specification

The ideal tutor should possess a strong academic background. They must exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students of diverse ages and learning abilities. Adaptability, patience, and a passion for education are essential traits for fostering a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification, alongside tutoring experience, is indispensable.
  • Relevant experience in working with young people not attending mainstream education due to behavioural issues or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Expertise in specific subjects or extensive tutoring experience in English, Maths, and/or Science.
  • Familiarity with disengaged young people or those in the care system, including experience, knowledge, and understanding.
  • Either possessing an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service or being willing to obtain one.
  • Understanding of and experience with Safeguarding practices.
