Are you looking to start a career in a field that is growing in demand every day? How about an exciting role using drones to seamlessly contribute to the upkeep of the British Army’s vast estate? As a Drone Surveyor Apprentice, you’ll be joining a multi-disciplined team that assesses the condition of our customer’s diverse estate.

As part of the Drone Surveyor Apprenticeship, you will first be mentored by one of our Drone Operators to become a safe and efficient Drone Operator. You’ll operate to the letter of the law, adhere to our internal flight safety policies, and complete timely roof surveys across all our garrisons.

Alongside this mentorship, you will also complete a Surveying Technician Level 3 qualification, enabling you to contribute to condition assessments of the rooftops and advise remedial action. By using your natural desire for knowledge, you’ll complete this online through tutor-led remote sessions, as well as two short residential sessions at the course supplier’s head office.

Then, in just over 2 years, you will be a fully qualified Drone Surveyor. Once trained you will continue assessing asset conditions from the air, as well as keeping the Drone Team’s documentation current and compliant with UK Law and CAA regulations. Alongside drone compliance, you’ll also immerse yourself in Aspire Defence’s commitment to Zero Harm, a culture we have cultivated to ensure that our teams are always free from harm.

But first, meet the team…

With a 35-year contract, making soldiers’ lives better is at the heart of everything we do at Aspire Defence Services.

Seriously, picture a heart (the real one) and imagine how hard it works to keep the body running, making sure every part gets exactly what it needs to thrive. That’s our mission; to deliver a modern, fully serviced, flexible working environment for soldiers.

And just as the heart needs certain parts to keep the body alive, we need the dedication and commitment of our people to support our customers. We deliver a broad range of services for one-third of the British Army living and working on our patch, and we're proud of the work we do.

We’re all about nurturing great teams, and our award-winning safety and well-being initiatives are built on keeping an eye out for one another and having a good work-life balance.

In addition to being part of our team, you’ll also get…

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, as well as the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Contributory Company Pension Plan matched up to 6%, plus individual life assurance
  • A shopping discount scheme
  • Birthday Day Off Scheme
  • Cycle to Work and Tech Scheme
  • Discounted gym memberships
  • Optional Health Cash Plan
  • Employee assistance and health and well-being check-ins
  • Reward and recognition to celebrate outstanding achievements
  • Free on-site parking

Ready to join the team?

We’re looking for someone who holds a Level 4 GCSE qualification in English and Maths. In addition to this, it is desirable, but not essential, to have previous experience operating UAVs, either professionally or as a hobby. Previous construction industry experience would also be an advantage.
