Underwriter

Job Purpose:

It is an exciting time to join this Financial Services business as they redefine their future strategy, with their underwriting team playing a pivotal role. They are looking for an experienced underwriter to join their team. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, you will play a key role in the delivery of the business strategy and strategic aims. Helping to deliver 'best in market' practices to ensure high quality service is maintained and to deliver an excellent member and adviser experience.

Principal Accountabilities:

• To underwrite new and existing business to achieve business goals
• Participation in process improvements initiatives/reviews
• Provide input into the business' underwriting processes
• To maintain an understanding of, and adhere to, the Data Protection Act, Anti-Money Laundering regulations and all relevant policies and procedures
• To maintain an awareness of the importance of risk within the business and to bring any matters of concern to the attention of the Head of Underwriting
• Supporting a motivating and inspiring team to work within where they are on the front foot and continually reviewing their practices to make sure they are seen as 'best in market'

Skills and Experience:

• Highly experienced with a strong protection background
• Experience of working within an underwriting team with a high level of authority for income protection products
• An eye for seeing business improvement opportunities
• Highly motivated with a passion for driving positive change and customer experience
• Excellent IT Skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
• A team player with emphasis on a supportive environment
• Attention to detail
