Our client, a leading US practice now expanding in the UK, seeks two high calibre Associates for their European Competition team.  

Competition Associate 

  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on a wide range of competition law matters, with a focus on EU and UK jurisdictions.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence for merger control cases, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in the investigation and defence of alleged antitrust violations, including cartel activities and abuse of dominance cases.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, submissions, and correspondence, for competition litigation proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and client advisories.
  • Collaborate closely with senior associates and partners to support client engagements and contribute to the development of case strategies.

You should be a qualified Solicitor in the UK or EU (with strong academic credentials from a leading academic institution), NQ up to 4 years of post-qualification experience in competition law, with demonstrated experience in EU and UK competition matters, including merger control, Article 101/Chapter 1 cases, and Article 102/Chapter 2 investigations.

Competition Litigation Associate

·       Assist in the management of competition litigation matters from inception to resolution, including case analysis, drafting pleadings, and preparing for hearings.

·       Conduct legal research and analysis on complex competition law issues, providing insightful advice and strategic recommendations to clients.

·       Collaborate with senior team members to develop case strategies and tactics, ensuring alignment with client objectives and legal requirements.

·       Prepare and review legal documentation, including court filings, witness statements, and expert reports, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

·       Liaise with clients, counsel, and external experts to gather evidence, coordinate case preparations, and support the overall litigation process.

·       Stay abreast of developments in competition law and litigation trends, contributing to thought leadership initiatives and internal knowledge-sharing activities.

·       Actively participate in business development efforts, including client pitches, networking events, and industry conferences, to support the growth of the firm's competition litigation practice.

You should be qualified UK Solicitor with a good first degree and 1-3 years PQE in competition law, gained at a Top Tier Law Firm and with experience of High Court and/or Competition Appeal Tribunal competition litigation.
