Are you looking for an opportunity to impact and support the lives of young people? R13 are currently supporting a fantastic business in their search for a Waking Night Care Worker to join one of their Children’s Home based in Reading. This is an essential role in assisting the residents, ensuring they feel secure and supported.

This is a full time, permanent position working 40 hours per week (including rota & administrative shifts), based in Reading. The offered salary for this position is £25,000 per annum plus additional pay for sleep-in duty.

Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring and supporting young people throughout the night.
  • Using therapeutic parenting techniques to handle any overnight concerns.
  • Reporting any incidents through the correct channels, maintaining sensitivity.
  • Providing support with young people’s evening & morning routines.
  • Developing positive relationships with young people to create a nurturing atmosphere that promotes sleep & comfort.

You will have /be:

  • Proven experience within a care setting.
  • Confident working overnight - ideally with some experience doing this.
  • Working knowledge of child development & safeguarding policies.
  • Strong observational skills with the ability to act quickly in emergencies.
  • Empathetic, compassionate & resilient.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Attainment of or working towards a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
