An exciting temporary opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Operative & Driver within the Brigade’s Operations Support Group at the Operations Support Centre (OSC) in Croydon. This role is essential for maintaining the operational readiness of the Brigade’s Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and other equipment. The successful candidate will be part of a dedicated team, ensuring the highest standards of service and maintenance.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Service and maintain a variety of protective equipment, with a focus on Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) such as breathable air cylinders.
  • Charge compressed air cylinders and maintain OSG equipment at Croydon and potentially at other OSG sites in Barking and Park Royal.
  • Transport and carry equipment within the area covered by the Brigade.
  • Adhere to Brigade procedures and legislation regarding the maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain and update records, both manual and computerised, relating to equipment and stores.
  • Provide written reports and other information regarding equipment and stores for OSG management.
  • Liaise with staff within the Brigade as well as external contractors and suppliers.
  • Participate in training leading to qualification in specialised skills and maintain competence.
  • Engage in emergency response to incidents as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Ability to service and undertake repairs to equipment, including electrical and pneumatic equipment, using a range of specialist tools.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good IT skills for data input, retrieval, and email communication.
  • Physical fitness to carry and move equipment safely (e.g. 6Kg compressed air cylinders).
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
