Weighbridge Operator

If you're confident in a frontline customer service job, have good Microsoft Excel and Word skills, and a 4-days-on, 4-days-off working pattern suits your lifestyle, how about joining Grundon's recycling waste facility at Colnbrook, near Heathrow, as Weighbridge Operator? Greeting drivers arriving on site to deliver or collect materials, checking their paperwork and producing accurate weighbridge tickets are all part of this busy full-time role. Interested? We're offering a permanent contract, starting pay rate of £659 per week, including shift allowance, and a host of benefits, including:

- Discretionary company bonuses

- Pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this) with life insurance cover

- 21.5 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), which will increase with service, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days' holiday

What you’ll be doing as Weighbridge Operator

Our Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) are busy plants where mixed recycling like cardboard and cans from local authority kerbside collections and our commercial customers are separated and sorted. Situated alongside the weighbridge office, the weighbridge is like a large set of scales that vehicles drive over, enabling you to accurately record weight data using a Windows-based computer system. You can expect to:

- Identify the customer account and material being transported and ensure that the right details (e.g. vehicle registration) are recorded.

- Check that that all drivers and visitors are wearing the necessary protective clothing.

- Make sure that documentation is correct.

- Keep the weighbridge balanced and reading zero.

What we're looking for in our Weighbridge Operator

- Ideally, weighbridge experience.

- Good timekeeping and attendance record.

- A high level of numeracy, literacy and computer skills.

- Ability to communicate well – one minute you might be signing in a visitor, the next informing a driver that their vehicle is too heavy.

- High standards of accuracy even when busy.

Working hours: Shift system of 4 days on followed by 4 days off, average 40.36 hours per week, 6am-6pm
