This organisation are a cutting edge global Engineering and Manufacturing business. They are currently looking for a Welding & Fabrication Quality Engineer.

Working as a direct report to the Quality Manager alongside the quality team, the Welding and Fabrication Quality Engineer will be part of the quality assurance team supporting a proactive and collaborative project working environment, providing governance in relation to Welding and Quality Management whilst supporting project deliveries. Daily activities will be conducting in accordance with their internal quality management system procedures and processes in line with ISO 9001:2015.

The Welding and Fabrication Quality Engineer will provide technical guidance and quality control of internal welding and fabrication, whilst providing technical guidance, oversight, and quality assurance of external supplier welding and fabrication.

The Role

  • Working with multi-functional integrated project teams alongside the quality function supporting a proactive and collaborative project working environment, providing governance in relation to Quality Management whilst supporting project deliveries.
  • Provide daily technical guidance and quality control of the internal welding and fabrication of Carbon Steel, Copper Nickel and Stainless-Steel piping systems alongside the welding team leader.
  • Provide technical guidance, oversight, and quality assurance of external supplier welding and fabrication of structural steel or other materials, both from the UK office and at supplier sites nationally in the UK and internationally in Europe.
  • Providing technical guidance to internal and external stakeholders on welding drawings, welding processes, welding defects, welding failure modes and other related welding and fabrication conformance to known national and international standards.
  • Conduct visual inspection of welding quality including dimensional verification to BSEN ISO 5817: 2014, Def Stan 02-773 or other specifications.
  • Auditing of fabrication and welding (Heavy section platework and complex pipe systems), welding process knowledge (TIG, MAG, FCAW, MCAW), welding procedures (WPS, WPQR), and in process welding.
  • Review and interpretation of complex fabrication drawings and welding symbols, including welding setups, and welding sequences.

Requirements

  • Experience in a discipline of all or some of the following - Welding, Welding Engineer, Welding Technologist, Welding Specialist.
  • Recognised Apprenticeship, Academic studies, or formal training. Industry experience will also be considered. Previous industry experience of conducting coded welding would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working in an Engineering environment.
  • Valid Driving license suitable for the UK.
  • Valid Passport with no restrictions for European travel.
  • IWS (International Welding Specialist), IWT (International Welding Technologist), IWE (International Welding Engineer) qualified.
