Our client, SMT GB, are a leading full-service distribution and after-sales specialist in Volvo construction machinery and trucks, material handling and recycling equipment. They have an international footprint that spreads from Europe to Africa to the United States, operating in over 30 countries with over 2,000 employees.

SMT are looking for an experienced Workshop or Field based Engineer the opportunity to join their well-established and professional team of engineers in Brownhills. Then role requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

About the Role

As Workshop Engineer at SMT GB, you will identify mechanical and computerised systems problems, servicing, maintenance, and repair on Volvo heavy mobile plant machines within the workshop at their Brownhills depot.

Key responsibilities

  • Service, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on Volvo construction equipment
  • Installing software updates
  • Completion of paperwork
  • Coaching and guiding colleagues with technical support
  • Health and Safety compliance

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ L3/equivalent in heavy plant/HGV/agricultural machinery maintenance and repair
  • Previous mechanical experience of repair and maintenance on heavy construction plant
  • Technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electronics
