Position: Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Child with ASD) - Barnsley

Type: Long Term Temporary
Hours: Full-Time - 5 Days
About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is crucial for the child's successful integration into a mainstream school and involves providing the necessary support as outlined in their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to a child with ASD during lessons to promote engagement.
• Assist the child in engaging with educational activities and managing transitions.
• Monitor and support the child's safety, ensuring they do not access unsafe areas or items.
• Help the child with self-care tasks.
• Implement strategies to manage the child's impulsive behaviours and sensory needs.
• Work closely with the school's SENCO and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner.
• Commitment to providing consistent and reliable support.
• Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or referenceable experience within the last two years.
