We are currently looking for a Yard Supervisor to join our team, to be based at our York Operation Centre.

You'll be working from Monday to Friday, with no bank holiday working, so you'll benefit from a great work-life balance and have more time to yourself.

Our Yard Operatives are a dedicated team that are crucial to our operation, who love working outside in all weathers and have a passion for vehicles and working with cars. This team consistently and promptly respond to customer requests and complete service orders to deadlines. They ensure that vehicles are stored and maintained in line with customer and company standards and operate a handheld device to take images of vehicles.

The Yard Supervisor will work closely with the General Manager and Office Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the yard. This role will involve overseeing the de-pollution, processing and yard staff daily to ensure targets and performance are being achieved and all policies and procedures are followed. Ensuring continuous compliance for all site operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the managing of the day-to-day operations of the yard including de-pollution, processing, receiving and storage of vehicles
  • Controlling the traffic management on site for forklift movements, car transporters and scrap trailers entering and exiting the yard
  • Offering assistance to customers and handle customer issues whilst providing excellent customer service
  • Recording vehicle information accurately and legibly, including the logging of plant usage
  • Providing motivation and guidance to the different functions of the yard team
  • Using a forklift/tractor to move vehicles as required
  • Training and carrying out all safety inductions to staff and any external visitors
  • Ensuring that the site training records, including the safe systems of work are up to date, accurate and available for all members of staff
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and professional approach
  • Following Health & Safety, Environmental Policies and Company guidelines, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • Deputising for the General Manager as required.

What we need from you:

  • IOSH qualification
  • Forklift Truck Licence
  • First Aid Qualification
  • At least two years' experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent customer service skills and attitude
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate basic equipment
  • Computer literate, ideally with good knowledge of Microsoft Office
