We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / HSE Business Partner with previous experience in an HSE or HSEQ management role, as well as ISO maintenance and implementation.

As the Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / HSE Business Partner you will be responsible for the Safety, Health and Environmental compliance and development for all three company sites.

Working as Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / HSE Business Partner you will be owner and strategy leader for safety implementation and development.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / HSE Business Partner will include:

  • Enforce all H&S policy, procedures and performance on site
  • Ensure risk assessment and accident management systems are in place
  • Lead incident investigations providing an advisory support function to site management, first line managers and other colleagues
  • Ensure that risk and other assessments are reviewed
  • Promote a healthy work environment and ensure the safety of all staff, contractors, installation teams and visitors
  • Ensure that staff are inducted, in association with the Department Manager and HR
  • Undertake regular toolbox talks and awareness sessions to ensure best practice and compliance
  • Ensure that all accidents are investigated, and that continuous improvement is implemented
  • Support HR activities in incident/accident investigations
  • Advise and assist the Senior Managers and other persons involved in planning, organising, controlling, and maintaining the workplace and environment
  • Assist with the development, review and update, when necessary, of policy and procedures in consultation with Managers and Staff to comply with legal and best practice obligations
  • Assist with promoting achievement and performance throughout the organisation
  • Completion of inspections and audits. Monitor that recommendations and appropriate control measures are implemented
  • Provide analysis and reports are issued to necessary Departments/Managers monthly on key safety activities such as Near Misses, LTI and RIDOR Statistics
  • Ensure that regulatory and corporate compliance is adhered to
  • Maintain and update the systems for recording, reporting, and investigating injuries, accidents, dangerous occurrences, and safety issues
  • Measure performance and identify any areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements
  • Manage and chair relevant meetings to discuss necessary issues and continuous improvement within the local site area
  • Assist with managing relationships with external bodies such as the EA, HSE, acting as a communication vehicle between the company and external party

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in a SHE management role with demonstratable experience
  • Waste, recycling, or sustainability industry experience is an advantage, but is not a pre-requisite
  • Experience with ISO maintenance and implementation. Technical Competencies
  • Demonstrable track record of leadership impact
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach
  • Strong Operations technical understanding
  • Highly numerate with strong analytic skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with ability to communicate at all levels
  • NEBOSH Holder
  • COTC Holder level 5 ideal (this can be via training agreement after probation)
  • Good knowledge of COMAH Sites and DESEAR risks
  • Local budget knowledge/ experience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
  • Results orientated, with desire and tenacity to drive performance.
  • A proven leader with excellent interpersonal
  • Flexible approach to working
